Unity turned to REWIND to create its official conference app for Unite LA with a focus on AR. Aside from including all the usual conference app functions – scheduling, networking, navigation – REWIND integrated some never-before-seen Unity AR experiences into the application which also created a unique AR gallery at the event. Integrating AR is the first step towards the future of trade shows.
The 15 AR experiences ranged from inspirational tips and video tutorials to Made With Unity content. REWIND also turned the Unite LA event branding – generative swirls – into an AR element which was used as the reveal for all the Made With Unity assets and videos.
The Made With Unity content was showcased via an innovative AR art exhibition at the JW Marriot, the venue for Unite LA. As one of the first things people saw upon entering the venue, the gallery set the stage for Unite to be a celebration of developer’s work. Seven different AR experiences, including GolfClub: Wasteland, Harold Halibut and Seeking Dawn were accessible. From golf playing Martians to creepy spiders, REWIND seamlessly brought digital assets into the real world using Vuforia’s image recognition software.
The app was a huge success. 95% of conference attendees downloaded the experience, in comparison to 60% of conference attendees in previous years. Users spent an average of 18 minutes per day using the app.
